It was an exciting day for Macy’s today with the launch of their new STORY shops across the country.  Current, powered by GE had the privilege of being one of their corporate partners along with Crayola, Levi’s, MAC and others. I was fortunate enough to participate in their launch event at their historic flagship store in Herald Square.  At the event Rachel Shechtman, the pioneering founder of Story, and Jeff Gennette, the enterprising CEO of Macy’s, spoke to the large crowd gathered to support and experience their new concept store within a store. As you might guess they were very gracious and thanked all who had helped get Story launched, and they spoke about the evolving retail industry and why it’s important to change and innovate.

What struck me as differing in their remarks was their candor about Test & Learn. It’s a philosophy we at Current embraced when we launched in 2015 and continue to this day. In a world of innovation, disruptive technologies and shifting customer needs, I believe Test & Learn is the underpinning of how we all need to move forward. In 2015, Test & Learn was nothing more than a concept and a catchphrase. I truly did not appreciate the depth of its importance or the impact the mindset and approach could have on a business or its customers. Today, I see how our teams continue to evolve our customer outcomes through a Test & Learn approach to both our Digital and LED offerings.  I have a huge appreciation and respect for people who embrace that mindset.

Cheers to Macy’s and to Rachel and Jeff as they embark on their next chapter with Story and the Test & Learn culture.
