Roadway Brightens Roads in Detroit

More than 10 years ago the Detroit Public Lighting Authority went out to bid to replace ~65,000 aging, HID streetlights. The business was split between Leotek Electronics, Cooper Lighting and Cree. The first phase of the installation began in 2014 and while the initial results were positive, the fixtures began failing after only a few years. Detroit turned to Current as a trusted advisor to help identify the root cause and suggest an alternate solution. Fast forward to January of this year, where the Roadway team landed their latest replacement order for (5,000), ERL2 Cobraheads valued at ~$1.6MM. This latest order will replace failed Cree fixtures. Current was awarded the business as a result of our technical expertise, design-oriented solutions, short cycle lead times, and flexible delivery schedules.

Congratulations to the cross functional powerhouse of a team including Parm Girn, Regional Sales Manager, Roadway, Gary Steinberg & Danny Lefitz, Technology, Mike McVeigh & Alan Boose, Product Management, Amy Olszewski and Kevin Edwards, Supply Chain and our Agent, Tim Pompo, ELUS Company. Together, this team has positioned Current as a strategic partner with the Detroit PLA and the sole provider of all replacement LED fixtures. Well done team. Celebrate the team with Applause.
