Current recently announced the addition of a Cat-M Point to Point version to its LightGrid Outdoor Lighting Control System. The new Cat-M System allows nodes to communicate directly with the LightGrid CMS without the need for a gateway and also compliments existing mesh technology. Both systems enable remote monitoring, control, energy metering and asset management of outdoor light fixtures through a web-enabled central management system. 

Mesh systems provide a cost-effective lighting controls solution in urban environments that typically have dense pole locations, because each gateway can support hundreds of nodes. However, in linear deployments such as highways or parking lots with low numbers of light poles, the low node-to-gateway count makes mesh systems less cost effective. Cat-M point to point is an excellent cost-effective alternate to mesh in these deployments.
