The Flexible Workplace Policy categorizes employees into three groups: fixed, flexible and virtual. This policy is limited to the United States and Canada.

Effective Monday, October 2, 2023, we are changing the definition of our flexible categorization to add one (1) additional day to assigned in-office days per week, totaling four (4) in-office workdays, with one (1) day allowed for virtual office.

We are making this change to improve our overall performance.  We believe in the powerful cultural benefits of working in an office together – it’s important to engage frequently with coworkers to stay aligned to our core values and be mission focused.

We know that a lot of information sharing happens through short, informal conversations between people over the course of a normal workday. You might bump into a colleague while thinking about a problem and ask a question that leads to a new and surprising solution. Maybe you grab a cup of coffee with a few employees and that leads to a process improvement. Or you notice a colleague struggling with a task and give them some tips that save a lot of time. We may not miss those moments when they’re not happening, but they can have a significant positive impact on our individual success, and the success of the company.

We understand that some of you may have personal needs to schedule appointments, attend important events, and step away from work. All employees still have the flexibility to do so, however we ask that you refresh your understanding of our policy so that these items are an occasional schedule change and not a weekly norm.  If you have a situation that you believe requires a change in your workplace categorization as a means of reasonable accommodation, then please contact your manager or human resources manager.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we implement this change. Please discuss with your supervisor any questions or concerns you may have.

Q4: I am categorized as flexible, but my peer in the same role is categorized as virtual.  How is this fair?
A4: The decision to approve, deny, or modify a virtual work arrangement may be based on several factors. Virtual work arrangements for certain eligible employees may be practical as long as they do not negatively impact operational needs or service to internal and external customers. If employees begin to exhibit performance problems during the period that they are in a virtual work arrangement, the Company retains the right to revoke the virtual work arrangement.

Q5: I am virtual and would like to return to the office.  How do I do so?
A5: An employee may request to terminate their virtual work arrangement by providing a written request to their manager.

Q6: I am applying for a new role in Current, am I able to remain a virtual employee?
A6: Virtual work arrangements do not automatically follow an employee to a new job within Current.

Q7: To confirm, if I live in the USA or Canada and am categorized as flexible, I need to be in the office (4) four days per week?
A7: Correct, as of October 2, 2023 – our policy has changed and requires flexible employees in the USA and Canada to be in an office (4) four days per week.

Q8: Will Current be changing the Policy again in the future?
A8: We do not anticipate making any additional changes; however, the business reserves the right in its sole discretion to modify or terminate this policy with or without notice at any time.
