Check out this recap from last week's meeting with the San Diego Police Department on the value Current's CityIQ nodes have unlocked for the city.
You recently read about the San Diego Police Department presenting Challenge Coins to Maryrose to thank us for our smart city partnership. In addition, the SDPD issued a report to the city council consisting of 83 case files that Current’s CityIQ platform has helped gather evidence for.
On June 5th, there will be a city council hearing specifically designed to share more detail with the public around some of the benefits Current’s CityIQ nodes have brought to the community, and will also serve as an opportunity to start talking more publicly around the value our platform has unlocked.
The SDPD stated that our platform is earning public trust at new levels by doing some pretty amazing things like helping set innocent people free, protecting those who had to use self-defense, explaining to survivors of car crashes that deceased victims in their car were not their fault, and many other stories. One example involves a masked man robbing a convenience store. After stealing money from the register, he walked out and handed the cash to an assailant (which our CityIQ node caught). He then walked in the other direction for seven blocks thinking he had finally gone far enough away from any surveillance cameras and pulled his mask off. Our CityIQ sensor captured that exact moment and his identity was revealed to the police.
The SDPD will be sharing learnings with 17 surrounding cities and counties so they can learn, be proactive, and benefit in the same way San Diego has. They have also agreed to let us share their story during our sales presentations to other cities, and are willing to talk with other police departments we refer to them, which is a huge proof point for CityIQ in the market.
What's next for the city? Later this year, Police & Traffic will be able to access all of our cameras in San Diego in real time to improve safety and response efficiency of first responders and city operations. We will also be launching a new Bike API which the city is very excited about. Stay tuned for more info!
We asked our Strategic Marketing Manager for Intelligent Cities, Jim Benson, what it felt like to hear all of the great ways our data has helped the city. He says, "This is why I am so passionate about our CityIQ platform and the promise it afford cities. With our continued effort, creativity and investment, our potential is almost limitless. I love that the business we are building is able do so much good for society!"
