The executive team and leaders from across the business had the privilege of previewing our newest Institute and Experience Center in Plympton, Massachusetts last week. Scheduled to open this summer, the center is purposefully designed to transform how we demonstrate and specify lighting and controls, with a strong focus on education, innovation, and collaboration.
This state-of-the-art facility has been thoughtfully developed to support our comprehensive portfolio of architectural lighting fixtures and intelligent control systems.
It’s a space where ideas will flourish, relationships will deepen, and the future of smart, connected lighting solutions will take shape where all of our employees will contribute to its success. The plant engaged in an interactive floor tour, town hall and buffet luncheon, followed by table top conversations.
We’re excited about the impact this center will have in expanding our basis-of-design influence and reinforcing our commitment to delivering cutting-edge lighting technologies that inspire and illuminate. More than just a showroom, it positions Current Lighting as a leader in the specification community, offering a dynamic environment for hands-on learning, product exploration, and immersive training experiences. It will serve as a vital hub for our agency partners, distributors, contractors, and design professionals.
Skill building: Microsoft Copilot
Current is taking a bold step into the future by integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into its operations. After an extensive preliminary test period, the company is excited to officially launch Microsoft Copilot for workplace use. This AI tool is designed to enhance productivity while maintaining data security and minimizing cybersecurity risks.
Why Microsoft Copilot?
The adoption of Copilot marks a strategic move toward smarter workflows and greater efficiency across departments. This enterprise-grade AI solution assists employees in optimizing their work processes, streamlining tasks, and improving decision-making—all while ensuring compliance with strict security protocols.
Getting Started with Copilot: To access and utilize Microsoft Copilot, employees must complete a simple onboarding process within a set timeframe:
1. Acknowledge the AI Policy:
- The AI policy has been uploaded to ADP profiles. Employees must review and acknowledge this policy within seven business days to confirm understanding.
2. Complete AI Risk Awareness Education:
- Following policy acknowledgment, employees must complete a brief two-minute AI education module via the KnowB4 Learning Platform within the same timeframe.
3. Access Copilot Through Microsoft Tools. Follow these basic steps:
- Open the Microsoft Start menu (bottom-left corner of your desktop).
- Select Copilot M365 from the Office apps list.
- Log in using your Microsoft work email address (required only during initial use).
- Begin using Copilot to enhance your workflow.
Employees can also access Copilot within other Microsoft tools, such as Microsoft Edge, whenever they see the Copilot icon. Clicking the icon allows users to leverage Copilot’s AI capabilities seamlessly within various platforms.

What did you take away from our Emotional Intelligence Session? Here are some takeaways that stuck with us:
Self-awareness starts with the pause. Naming what you feel gives you space to choose what you do.
We can’t control how others show up—but we can choose how we do. The “Let Them” mindset, shared from Mel Robbins’ book, reframed a lot for us.
→ Let them interrupt.
→ Let them be late.
→ Let them scroll.
→ And then: Let me lead with clarity, not reaction.
The How We Feel App gave us a simple, private way to build that habit: name the emotion, notice the pattern, and move forward more intentionally.
This week’s session gave us space to reflect, connect, and grow — from real-life scenarios in breakout rooms to discovering new tools.

Acuna Hosts a EHS Fair for Health and Safety Month
Health, safety, and environmental responsibility are key priorities. In celebration of Health and Safety Month, the site organized an engaging EHS fair, bringing employees together for a day of learning, fun, and community collaboration.
The event welcomed participation from local authorities, alongside suppliers specializing in PPE, waste recycling, pest control, fire extinguishers, and medical and dental services. Attendees enjoyed interactive games, learned from experts, and embraced a culture of safety—all while indulging in healthy fruit snacks provided at the fair
To reinforce environmental stewardship, the event featured tree and flower raffles, encouraging employees to contribute to a greener future. Additionally, a pet care association advocating for rescued stray animals was present, allowing attendees to register for pet adoptions and help give these animals a second chance. The EHS Department, HR, and the entire staff worked collaboratively to make this fair a success. Employees left feeling more informed, connected, and inspired—a true testament to the positive impact of workplace health and safety initiatives. Global Holiday Awareness
As we work across borders and time zones, being mindful of global holidays helps us build a more thoughtful and inclusive workplace. Here are a few important dates to keep in mind this month:
US Memorial Day - Monday, May 26
Memorial Day is a solemn and significant day in the United States, dedicated to honoring the military personnel who died in service to their country. It began after the Civil War as “Decoration Day,” when communities would lay flowers on soldiers’ graves. Today, it’s recognized as a time of national remembrance—and a moment to reflect on the cost of freedom.
What’s happening:
- A National Moment of Remembrance is observed at 3 PM local time.
- Ceremonies take place at military cemeteries and memorials across the U.S., including Arlington National Cemetery, where the President or Vice President often lays a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
- US Flags are placed on graves at national cemeteries—many by volunteers, veterans, and scouts.
- Taps is played at ceremonies nationwide, a haunting bugle call that signals respect and rest.
Though many also use the long weekend for family gatherings and the start of summer, Memorial Day remains deeply rooted in gratitude and remembrance.
GB Spring Bank Holiday (United Kingdom) – Monday, May 26
The Spring Bank Holiday gives colleagues in the UK a chance to enjoy (hopefully) sunny weather, explore the outdoors, and enjoy some well-deserved rest.
CN Dragon Boat Festival (China) – Friday, May 31 – Sunday, June 2 One of China’s most colorful and culturally rich holidays, the Dragon Boat Festival (Duanwu) dates back over 2,000 years. It honors the beloved poet and minister Qu Yuan, who drowned himself in protest against political corruption.
The local people raced out in boats to try to save him—or at least protect his spirit—by beating drums and throwing rice into the river.
Traditions and fun facts:
- Dragon boat races are the main event—powered by paddlers in rhythm to drumbeats, it’s a high-energy, high-splash spectacle.
- Zongzi (sticky rice dumplings with savory or sweet fillings) are eaten to honor the rice offerings to Qu Yuan.
- People hang mugwort and calamus on doors to ward off illness and evil spirits.
- In some regions, children wear fragrant sachets and charms for good luck and protection.
🌍 How to Be a Thoughtful Global Teammate:
✔ Be mindful of time off – Some colleagues may be offline or attending commemorations.
✔ Schedule wisely – Consider “delay send” for emails and plan meetings around key observances.

What an incredible way to kick off the morning — with a spread that had something for everyone. From every flavor of bagel and spread you could imagine, to the mouthwatering SENSE-ible Veggie Quiche and the unforgettable WAC-ky Chorizo Quiche, the menu was nothing short of spectacular.
But the treats didn’t stop there — crispy bacon, creamy yogurt, crunchy granola, fresh fruit & berries, and even Khakhra added a global twist to the table. It was a feast for the senses! This team really had everything under CONTROL! Celebrating Mother’s Day at Tijuana
To honor the mothers among us, the site was transformed into a festive space filled with warmth, laughter, and appreciation. It was a fun and spirited way to show appreciation and bring smiles to our hardworking moms.

Spring Into Wellness: Hendersonville '25 Health Fair
Hendersonville recently welcomed employees and community members to its Spring Health Fair, an event dedicated to promoting wellness and healthy living. With participation from numerous vendors offering a variety of health services, attendees had the chance to explore resources, gain valuable health insights, and engage in activities designed to encourage well-being.
Prioritizing Mental Health
Current Acuna held an event to raise awareness about the importance of our employees' mental health. Working with the Ciudad Acuna Mental Health Office (CECOSAMA), a suicide prevention talk was held with the participation of more than 100 people.
At this session experts outlined key risk factors and effective ways to prevent mental health crises. Attendees also learned practical exercises for managing anxiety attacks and strategies for handling mental health emergencies. Following the presentation, a support desk was set up for Q&A, allowing employees to seek additional guidance and resources.
